Why Use Teletext in the Internet Era?

Teletext is a very powerful medium for information. It is accessible by a large number of people and best of all, it does not cost the user anything on top their current cost.

Teletext's data stream is very high. It is about 2kb per second per one line of TV Signal, where usually Teletext takes up 11 lines, which gives you 22kb per second. That is about  2.5 of a 64-bit data stream.

Information in Teletext is fed through either the standard system, which allows the viewer to watch it on his/her TV set, or by a hidden signal. A hidden signal is characterized by a data block outside the TV signal, or better by independent teletext packets. This way of transmitting data allows Teletext to be easily divided among different independent channels.
